GNBNC Anchor Preena Squall: Singing and songwriting sensation Jimmy Bland joins us now on “Good Mornin’ USA!!” to talk about his sophomore effort, a follow up to his smash debut album, “Jimmy Bland Himself Here Right Now.” Jimmy, it’s great to have you here.
GNBNC Anchor Chip Stone: Yes, Jimmy, I’m a huge fan!

Jimmy Bland: Great to be here!
PREENA SQUALL: So tell us, Jimmy, what’ve the last couple years been like with your super-successful debut album?
JIMMY BLAND: Well, Preena, it’s been a real roller coast ride! My first single, called “You Have My Heart Hands Emoji,” exploded, shooting to #1 within a couple weeks. Then my second single, “You Swiped Me Off My Feed” blew up, and then the album really took off. So it’s been up and up and up.
CHIP STONE: Just like a roller coaster!
PREENA SQUALL: Uh…
JIMMY BLAND: Exactly!
CHIP STONE: So what’s your next move in your career?
JIMMY BLAND: Well, I’m putting my next album together, and it’s gonna be totally unique, like nothing anyone’s ever heard before!
PREENA SQUALL: Can you give us an idea of what you’re planning?
JIMMY BLAND: Sure. OK. Well the first song, I’m very excited about it, is called “Towns.”
PREENA SQUALL: Is that a reference to Townes Van Zandt?
JIMMY BLAND: Who?
PREENA SQUALL: oh…
JIMMY BLAND: Yeah, so the lyrics are a list of towns. I’m still workshopping it, but it goes, like, “Cincinatti, Sacramento, Dallas, St. Louis, Atlanta, Wyoming…” You get the idea.
CHIP STONE: That sounds amazing!!!
PREENA SQUALL: OK. What other songs are you planning to include?
JIMMY BLAND: I got one I’m working on that’s really cool and different. It’s about the loneliness of being on the road.
PREENA SQUALL: So…
JIMMY BLAND: Like, being on the bus, and meeting people who don’t really know you, and playing songs to audiences who are just going to go home after the show but you’re gonna get into the bus…
CHIP STONE: And then you’re on the road again! FANTASTIC!
PREENA SQUALL: That’s, uh, something…
JIMMY BLAND: This next one’s gonna blow your mind…
CHIP STONE: What is it???
JIMMY BLAND: I’m going to cover a song…
PREENA SQUALL: No…
JIMMY BLAND: You probably’ve never heard of it…
PREENA SQUALL: Don’t…
JIMMY BLAND: It’s called “Alleluia”…
PREENA SQUALL: Oh, for God’s sake.
JIMMY BLAND: Yeah, kinda I guess. I think it’s about God or something.
PREENA SQUALL: Does your agent know you’re doing this?
JIMMY BLAND: Yeah! It was his idea!
PREENA SQUALL: Okay…
CHIP STONE: Hey, I’ve got an idea!
PREENA SQUALL: Here we go…

CHIP STONE: How did you know?
PREENA SQUALL: Lucky guess.
JIMMY BLAND: That’s brilliant!!! Like, uh, Billy Joel…
CHIP STONE: And REM…
JIMMY BLAND: And Jimmy Buffett…
PREENA SQUALL: And Townes Van Zandt?
STONE and BLAND: Who?
JIMMY BLAND: Oh, that reminds me. I’m also gonna have a duet with Jimmy Buffett…
PREENA SQUALL: Jimmy Buffett. The Jimmy Buffett?
JIMMY BLAND: The one and only!
PREENA SQUALL: The dead one and only?
JIMMY BLAND: I mean, yeah. But, you know, with AI… and it’s a lot cheaper to get him now.
CHIP STONE: Oh, you should make it about a beach, or going to the beach, or a beach on an island! Something like that!
JIMMY BLAND: [taking notes on his phone] That’s good. Hang on…
PREENA SQUALL: Is that all?
JIMMY BLAND: No! There’s one more song, like the big finale.
CHIP STONE: Oh my God I can’t wait to hear this!
PREENA SQUALL: Yeah…
JIMMY BLAND: On this last song, my background singers are going to be…
PREENA SQUALL: Of course…
JIMMY BLAND: A CHURCH CHOIR!
CHIP STONE: WHAT????
JIMMY BLAND: Yep!
CHIP STONE: Wait! Are they gonna be-
PREENA SQUALL: [drops her head into her hands]
JIMMY BLAND: They sure are!!!
CHIP STONE: And they’re gonna-
JIMMY BLAND: Yes! Clapping and swaying and all of it!
CHIP STONE: THAT’S TREMENDOUS!!!!
PREENA SQUALL: They’ll be swaying? On the audio recording?
JIMMY BLAND: I mean, yeah, but, you know, it’ll be obvious.
CHIP STONE: I cannot wait for this album!
JIMMY BLAND: Shoot, Chip, I’m gonna give you writer’s credits for a couple of the songs!
